Safeguarding

The Medway Safeguarding Children Board (MSCB) is a statutory multi-agency organisation which brings together a range of agencies who work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people up to the age of eighteen years in Medway.

Medway Children’s Trust is committed to working co-operatively with MSCB and responding to their recommendations.

The Board meets regularly through the year to discuss a wide range of issues and is made up of senior strategic managers of partner agencies. The MSCB is designed to help ensure that children are safeguarded properly by agencies working effectively together. The Board is made up of Partner agencies which includes senior representatives of Medway Council, Kent Police, Medway Schools, all Medway health bodies, voluntary organisations, the NSPCC, CVS, Probation, YOI Cookham Wood and CAFCASS.

Although the MSCB’s role includes co-ordinating and ensuring the effectiveness of work done by member organisations to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, it is not accountable for the operational work and this remains with the individual organisations and services.
